Project SKIP Benefits for Families and Homeschoolers

Project SKIP is a simple and inexpensive way to identify and alert families and homeschoolers to any signs of academic, behavioral, and emotional issues that may interfere with a child's learning and development. Using a simple and inexpensive process affordable by even the most modest households, SKIP screens more comprehensively for issues, identifies why difficulties may be occurring, and provides the framework for designing effective, research-based interventions.

Participating in SKIP does NOT result in a diagnosis, but rather gives families the opportunity to review the interpretation provided by Dr. Bonny Forrest and her team and allows them to consider next steps.

Project SKIP Benefits for Families and Homeschoolers

  • Screens for WHY a child is having difficulties
  • Screens for cognitive, behavioral, and developmental, as well as academic issues
  • Motivated by federal calls for universal screening for mental health concerns
  • Uses scientifically-validated instruments to design research-based classroom interventions
  • Supports more in-depth assessment through cognitive screening directly with the child
  • Provides options and a framework for IEP consultation and planning

Project SKIP alerts families and homeschoolers to signs of academic, behavioral, and emotional issues that may interfere with a child's learning and development.
